Authorities Recover Body of Fifth Victim in Baltimore Bridge Collapse

Officials announced Wednesday that they have found the body of another victim from the Baltimore bridge collapse that occurred five weeks ago. The victim, identified as Miguel Angel Luna Gonzalez from Glen Burnie, Maryland, was discovered by the Unified Command, a coalition of law enforcement, coast guard, and government agencies formed to manage the aftermath of the disaster.

The collapse was triggered when a cargo vessel weighing 213 million pounds collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26. This collision severely damaged the bridge, resulting in the deaths of six workers who were repairing potholes at the time. The bridge served as a crucial daily route for approximately 30,000 residents of Maryland.

The six workers were immigrants from Central America, hailing from Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, and Guatemala. Despite the recent recovery, one victim's body still remains missing.

Since mid-April, investigations have been ongoing to determine the cause of the tragic incident.
