Signing Ceremony for Reconstruction of Dominica's National Abattoir Marks Promising Step Forward in Agricultural Development

In a momentous event heralding a new era for Dominica's agricultural sector, a significant milestone was achieved with the signing ceremony for the reconstruction of the National Abattoir. The event, held at the Ministry of finance in Roseau, symbolized a concerted effort to modernize infrastructure and bolster support for local farmers.


The occasion was attended by key stakeholders, including Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, Director of agriculture and staff of the PIU, among others.


The contract was signed with local firm, Regional Contractors Inc to the tune of just over EC$5M and is for a duration of 12months.


Minister Roland Royer, in his address to attendees, underscored the pivotal role of the abattoir in advancing Dominica's agricultural landscape.


Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit echoed Minister Royer's sentiments, emphasizing the government's unwavering commitment to fostering the growth and prosperity of Dominica's agricultural industry.


The reconstruction project, which is scheduled to commence expeditiously, will encompass comprehensive upgrades to existing infrastructure, the incorporation of cutting-edge technology and equipment, and the implementation of stringent quality control measures.


The revamped abattoir is poised to significantly augment processing capacity, improve operational efficiency, and elevate hygiene standards, thus bolstering consumer confidence in locally produced meat products.


As Dominica embarks on this transformative journey in agricultural development, stakeholders anticipate a surge in economic activity, greater resilience in the face of external challenges, and enhanced food security for the nation.
